We are planning on using the same stain as Rockclimber did on his house - Sashco Honey I think? Afraid our t & g deal wasn't that great. Other than the logs themselves we haven't done so great in the lumber prices. Yes, progress is like that sometimes. We will have our t & g up with a covering by this weekend and it seems like it took forever. I wish we would have cut our own 4 x 12's now. I could have bought a small portable mill for what we paid and then had the boards graded when the logs were graded. Live and learn though right.

What colors of stains are you using? Blane and I have been trying to decide what color we want to use. Did you find a good deal on the tongue and groove? Does it seem like you go a long while without very much progress and then suddenly things start coming together? Well at least that is the way it has been for us. You are probably more motivated than us because you are living in a much small space. We have been having rain many evenings and that has been a big factor. I can't wait until we can start stacking logs. The plan is to cut our 4 x 12's this weekend and then we can call the Grading Company to come.
Blessings, Tammy

Hi,
Very impressive. I am so proud of y'all for undertaking such a wonderful project. I hope you live happily in this house for a very, very long time since you have put so much love, sweat and perhaps some tears into it.

Hugs,
June

Wow... very interesting. I've enjoyed watching the progress and reading about the trials. I'm definitely not going to be trying any of this myself anytime soon. Proud of you guys, though!

Greetings LBHA member.
I am looking at getting a job in the Pensacola area when I return from Iraq in 2011. I was down there in Jan 2009 and passed several log mills and talked with a guy who told me that I could get a load of house logs for about 800-$1000 a load.
Was that your experience? How far from Pensacola are you?
I have seen various land prices and the farther away from Pensacola the cheaper it gets.
I enjoy the website and keep the updates coming.
